October 30, 2001Iogen Corporation Nears Completion of $25 Million Ethanol Plant in Ontario Iogen Corporation (Ottawa, Ontario) is nearing completion of a $25 million grassroot ethanol-from-cellulose demonstration plant adjacent to its enzyme manufacturing plant in Ottawa, Ontario. Iogen completed engineering in-house and PCL Constructors (Nepean, Ontario) provided procurement and construction management services for the project that began construction in 1999.
The plant will produce 4 million liters per year of ethanol using approximately 300 tons per week of wheat and barley straw. The plant is expected to create 10 new jobs when it becomes operational in November 2001. Future plans include developing a commercial scale ethanol plant to produce approximately 50 million liters per year.
