August 14, 2000GM's Advanced Auto Technologies Showcased at Democratic National Convention
An array of alternative fuel cars and trucks provided by General Motors Corp. -- including vehicles powered by electricity and natural gas -- is being used to showcase the benefits of clean transportation at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles this week.
One of these vehicles was shown at a reception of leading environmentalists yesterday, then driven afterward by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), one of the most environmentally progressive members of Congress.
GM provided the Congressman with an EV1 electric car for his use during the Democratic National Convention not only to get around town, but to convey to a national audience his support of GM's efforts to reduce fossil-fuel emissions through use of advanced technology and alternative fuel vehicles.
