August 20, 2002BP extends ethanol trial in Brisbane Fuel giant BP has announced the extension of a trial of ethanol blended petrol in the Australian city of Brisbane.
The company says the extension follows on from the success of the trial, originally set down for four months.
From today, BP will begin offering regular unleaded petrol containing ten percent ethanol at selected service stations in the Brisbane area.
BP is sourcing the ethanol from the by-products of Australian sugar cane.
The blending of fuel is being strongly pushed by Queensland's cane farmers, struggling under the weight of high debt and poor prices.
