March 3, 2003Meetings Begin for Proposed WWREC Ethanol Plant Wisconsin Ag Connection Editors - 03/03/2003
People who want to learn more about an effort to construct a 40 million gallon ethanol plant in or near Dunn County can participate in one of several informational meetings this week.
According to Paul Harrison, chairman of the Western Wisconsin Renewable Energy Cooperative, farmers have been indicating their support for a farmer-owned ethanol facility through a survey and equity drive being circulated throughout the area.
"So far, farmers are expressing strong support both verbally and financially," Harrison said. It's going to take $22 million of support to make it a reality. We hope to get there by the end of the March."
Harrison says corn and non-corn producers have been behind the coop's proposed ethanol plant because it would boost the local agricultural economy and meet the demand for cleaner burning fuel sources.
Meetings are planned for the following dates and times:
March 3 - 1:30 p.m., River Falls; 7:30 p.m., East Farmington
March 4 - 1:30 p.m., Hixton; 7:30 p.m., Eleva
March 5 - 9:30 a.m., Eau Galle; 1:30 p.m., Tilden
March 6 - 1:30 p.m., Cadott; 7:30 p.m., Bruce
March 7 - 9:30 a.m., Colfax
For more information about the meetings or about WWREC, call 715-632-2631 or 715-232-1636.
