April 17, 2003Ace Ethanol to Expand, More Facilities on the Way Stanley is not only the home to Wisconsin's largest ethanol production facility, it is also a community with one of the brightest futures in the industry. On Tuesday, Ace Ethanol was given a $1.3 million grant from the state to expand its facilities.
Governor Jim Doyle was on hand to offer the funds after the company announced in December it is planning to double its size by later this year.
Company CEO Alex Samardzich says a $20 million expansion is in the works, which could become reality by December. The move would allow Ace Ethanol to produce about 30 million gallons of ethanol annually. They currently produce about 15 million gallons per year.
Meanwhile, Ace Biorefining and Natural Chem also announced plans on Tuesday to build a $22 million and $44 million plant across from the current Ace Ethanol plant which would develop byproducts from ethanol production, such as mashed corn for a new sweetener. Those projects are expected to create about 30 jobs in the area.
All three of the projects are expected to be complete next spring.
