May 7, 2003James Valley Begins Production at Ethanol Plant in SD The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) recently announced that the farmer-owners of James Valley Ethanol have begun production at a new ethanol plant located near Groton, SD.
"We congratulate the farmer-owners of James Valley Ethanol on the start-up of another rural economic engine," said RFA president Bob Dinneen. "Ethanol production represents a great opportunity for farmers to capture the value-added benefit of their commodity. Putting corn into a local ethanol plant instead of a railcar bound for out-of-state equates to more local jobs, more economic activity on Main Street and higher corn prices."
RFA noted that James Valley, which was designed and built by the Broin Companies, will process 16 million bushels of corn per year into 45 million gallons of ethanol and 135,000 tons of Dakota Gold Plus distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS).
"James Valley is creating a new market for...corn supplies, providing new, highly technical job positions, and will spend millions of dollars locally in its operations, while contributing a new ethanol supply to a rapidly growing national marketplace," said Broin Companies CEO Jeff Broin.
