July 14, 2003Ethanol plant organizers running out of time to reap tax credits RAVENNA (AP) -- A decision on whether an 80-million-gallon ethanol plant can be built here must be made soon if the project is to qualify for up to $22 million in state tax credits, officials said.
The state ethanol tax credits are available only to ethanol plants in production by June 2004.
Buffalo County Economic Development Council President Ron Tillery met Friday with Ravenna officials to brief them on the project.
The proposed $110 million plant has garnered needed building permits from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality. Earlier this month, Tillery said the permit process took much longer than anticipated.
Nordic Biofuels of Vancouver, Wash., had expected to begin construction on the plant in late April or early May.
