July 2, 200420th Annual FEW sees record attendance The International Fuel Ethanol Workshop and Trade Show, held on June 22-25 in Madison, Wis., solidified itself as the largest ethanol gathering the world after tallying a record attendance of more than 1,500 people.
“The industry is in the right place at the right time in history,” BBI International President Mike Bryan told attendees in opening remarks. “It is a point where we can claim the rightful place for renewable fuels.”
People from the U.S. and 28 foreign countries were presented with information ranging from worldwide industry growth to technology advances and operations. Several awards were also distributed. The 2004 Award of Excellence was given to Dennis Vander Griend of ICM Inc. while three scholarship awards were given to David DeVoe, a student at Bismarck (N.D.) State College, and Derek Abbott and Eleonora Bellissimi, both students at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
AgDay Network filmed an episode for Weekend Marketplace with host Al Pell. Guests included Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA); Kathy Bryan, vice president of BBI International; and Marty Andreas, assistant to the CEO of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM).
Nearly 190 booths made up the trade show. Plant tours included Utica Energy in Oshkosh and Badger State Ethanol in Monroe.
